Determination of Schisandrin and Schisandrin B in Fruits of Schisandra chinensis Extract by HPLC

Objective To establish a method for the determination of schisandrin and schisandrin B in extract from fruits of Schisandra chinensis Extract.


Methods An HPLC method was set up with Lichrosphere C18(4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm)column.The Mobile phase was H2O(A) and MeOH(B).Gradient elution was with 60-70% B from 0~15 min,70%-80% B from 15~25 min,80%-75% B from 25~35 min,and 75% B from 35~45 min.The flow rate was 1.0 ml•min-1,the column temperature was 30℃ and detection wavelength was 254 nm.


Results The linear ranges of schizandrin and schisandrin B were within 0.182 4~1.641 6 μg(r=1.000 3)and 0.189 6~1.706 4 μg(r=0.999 9),the average recoveries were 98.02 % % and 98.42 % respectively.Conclusion This method is easy,sensitive,specific and accurate for the determination of schisandrin and schisandrin B in  Schisandra chinensis Extract from fruits.
